During the chat, when we asked the actress her thoughts on conversation around such topic. She says, “I’m so glad that now the conditioning is changing. Now people – regardless of gender, caste, religion, or age, have started asking questions. Sometimes, when I ask elders why we do certain things, they don’t have clear answers. They know exactly what steps 1 to 10 are, but why it happens, that no one knows. So I feel it’s important to raise the bar, to raise your hand, to ask those questions that you ought to voice. And conditioning gets me to this.”

She also recalls how people made a big deal when season 1 released. She asserts, “When Mirzapur season 1 was released, a lot of people – journalists, men and women, were giggling and asking me about the bold scene. And I was like, ‘So what?’ I mean, it was very regular and normal. And I asked them, ‘Have none of you masturbated before? Like why are we making it such a big deal?’ And they started giggling and I told them that it is our responsibility to portray what we are talking about and how we are talking about it properly because people are watching.

Shweta also remembers how she featured in list of actresses who masturbated on-screen. “And the things that we make a big deal of, ends up becoming that. So what is not a big deal, let’s not make it. There are so many things that we need to focus on. As an actor, I am here to serve the story, to bring to life what the director and writer wants. When I read it, I really didn’t think twice about this also. I love all my characters, and especially Golu, she is very close to my heart. So I didn’t understand why it was such a big deal. After that, there was also a list of actors who have masturbated on screen. And I was like, ‘Are we really talking about this?'”, says Mirzapur actress on a parting note.

Shweta also asserted why we have to be thoughtful about speaking on such a thing as statements can be misinterpreted. Watch the full interview here:
